RETURNING TO BUILDINGS

health screenings

All students and DOE employees must complete a health screening every day before they enter the school building.

Complete it online at healthscreening.schools.nyc. You will get a confirmation that it has been completed. Your child must show the confirmation (digital or paper) before entering the building. As part of this, the student is attesting that they do not have a temperature. This means that you must take your child’s temperature at home before they leave each day. This will make entry into the building much faster and our school environment much safer. Students and parents will be responsible for ensuring that the health screener is completed with fidelity.

Paper forms will also be available to students while they wait to enter the building and can be completed before entering. Their temperature will also be taken before entering.

DOE VACCINATION PORTAL
Picture
If your children have been vaccinated, please upload an image of your child’s vaccination card or NYC Excelsior Pass to the DOE’s vaccine portal at vaccine.schools.nyc.

Submitting this information will support New York City’s pandemic response and recovery efforts, helping to ensure that our school communities remain safe and healthy.

VACCINATIONS AT SCHOOL

Students 5 years and and older can currently receive the COVID-19 vaccination from the Ryan Health Center. Students who received their first dose elsewhere, including the November 2021 pop-up at the school, can receive their second dose at the Ryan Health Center. Please fill out the Ryan Health Center consent when making your appointment:
  • in English
  • en Espanol

COVID-19 TESTING for students and staff

The NYC DOE will provide testing for COVID-19 in every public school. Both staff and students are eligible for testing, regardless of vaccination status.

You must provide consent for the random in-school testing from your New York City Schools Account or a hard-copy of the consent form (PDF available in 10 languages under Consent).

For more information, please visit the DOE's Health and Safety in Our Schools page.

WHILE IN THE BUILDING

MASKS AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
  • Masks are optional indoors and outside beginning on March 7, 2022. Extra masks will be available at the school if needed.
  • Any staff member or student returning on Day 6 following a positive COVID-19 diagnosis or after having COVID-19 symptoms without testing is still required to wear a well-fitting mask at all times on school property through Day 10.
  • Masks are strongly recommended for any staff member or student who knows they have been exposed to COVID-19 within the previous 10 days. Mask-wearing is still required in medical rooms and nurses’ offices, as well as in our school-based health center, Ryan Health. Nurses will have masks on hand for anyone entering who may need one.
  • Hand sanitizer is available throughout the building, as are extra masks, wipes, and soap/water.
  • Although social distancing on school grounds is no longer mandated, some teachers may still utilize it in their classrooms.
  • Visitors to the building are still required to show proof of vaccination and a completed daily health screening.

EATING
Beginning March 28, 2022, lunch will return to the cafeteria full-time; recess will continue to be in the yard. The full lunch menu and salad bar will be available beginning April 4, 2022.

TRAVELING BETWEEN CLASSES
Students are permitted to travel to their classes and do not have to remain in one classroom all day.

POSITIVE COVID-19 CASE
Please refer to the DOE guidance for the procedures around the various configurations and consequences. You can also download a flow chart describing what students should do in case of exposure/COVID-19 positive result.

REMOTE LEARNING
A teacher will teach remotely ONLY if the entire class is quarantined. This is a slim possibility in grades seven and eight as many students will be vaccinated.
