 COMMUNITY EDUCATION COUNCIL (CEC)

You can also stay current on education issues by attending District 3 CEC meetings. This body of elected parent representatives holds public monthly meetings. Their calendar, duties and news are online at www.cec3.org. You can also subscribe to the CEC3 newsletter to stay informed on what is happening in our district and what the DOE is planning. Go to cec3.org, click on the "Sign up for the CEC District 3 newsletter" button to sign up.

The CEC actively encourages community participation on its Multilingual, Middle School and Overcrowding/Charter committees.

MS54 Parents on District & Citywide Education Councils
  • Lucas Liu - President of Community Education Council 3 (CEC3)
  • Deborah Kross - Citywide Council on High Schools (CCHS)
  • Charlie Huang - President of Citywide Council on English Language Learners (CCELL)
These are your parent-elected councils that advocate for our students, families and schools, and advise the DOE on issues related to your child's education. Parents can attend meetings of these councils to learn what is happening and to express concerns or raise issues. MS54 will also have a CEC3 liaison appointed shortly who will also be a point-of-contact for parents.

D3 PRESIDENTS' COUNCIL
The D3 Presidents' Council has an overarching goal this year to outreach to as many D3 parents as we can. To further that effort, we have started a Google Group to help ALL D3 parents get important information about D3 events, CEC3 communications, admissions, meetings, committees, and workshops in our district. This group is named "NYC Community School District 3 Information," and is for ANY D3 community member that wants to stay up-to-date on current issues and information pertaining to our elementary and middle schools, up to high school admissions.

You DO NOT have to have a Google account to join this group.
