8th Grade Promotional & Graduation Requirements

PROMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
The Department of Education has established the requirements for promotion to high school. These regulations include passing grades in all major subjects. Only students who meet the promotional criteria will be permitted to accept their high school placement. Students, who do not meet promotional criteria, may not participate in senior activities or in the commencement ceremony.

BEHAVIORAL REQUIREMENTS
Participation in senior activities and the commencement ceremony is a privilege granted to those who both meet the promotional and behavioral expectations of the Department of Education and of the school. Violations of the Discipline Code and of the School Code of Conduct will prevent students from participation in some or all of these activities including the senior trip.

GRADUATION AND SENIOR TRIP
Graduation is June 20, 2019 at A. Philip Randolph High School at 6:00PM. Each graduate will receive two tickets for the graduation ceremony. (Please note that there is a limited amount of seating in the auditorium, and unfortunately, larger venues are extremely expensive.) The Senior Fee is $80.00. This fee pays for the cap and gowns, commencement expenses, the yearbook, senior t-shirt, and other costs associated with senior awards and activities. The cost of the senior trip is not included in the senior dues

SENIOR TRIP
The Senior Trip to Six Flags Great Adventure will be on Tuesday, June 25th. The cost of the trip is $75.00. Please see the attached permission slip. It must be returned at the time of payment.

BEHAVIORAL REQUIREMENTS
Participation in senior activities is a privilege granted to those who both meet the promotional and behavioral expectations of the Department of Education and of the school. Repeated violations of the Discipline Code and of the School Code of Conduct will result in a student being prohibited from participation in some or all of these activities including the senior trip and yearbook signing party. Furthermore, we will not allow students who do not display sound judgement, as evidenced by their behavior in school, to attend the senior trip.

REMINDER
Reminder: Diplomas will not be issued until students have returned all textbooks and library books. The payment for lost books and library fines can be paid in the main office.

PAYMENT
Students can bring the money to the main office during morning homeroom. . Payment is due by June 5, 2019. Fees can be paid in increments. May 31st is the final day to pay by check. After that, only cash will be accepted. You may send in one check for both the fees and the trip.

Senior Fees: $80.00
Senior Trip: $75.00
Both Sr. Trip and Fees: $155.00

Departing students should save any information from their @ms54.org accounts that they wish to keep after the close of the school year. These accounts will be deleted soon after the last day of school.
