A note from ceichna@yahoo.com,
Manhattan Media is once again asking parents and students to take our
annual Blackboard Awards survey, now up and running at
http://www.BlackboardAwards.com, and give schools a grade from A to F. The
survey covers a variety of areas, including quality of teaching,
academic rigor, after-school programs and social comfort. There is
also a section where visitors can input candid comments about schools.
Results (which are always kept anonymous) are used to compile the
"Constructive Criticism" and "Honor Roll" sections of the Blackboard
Awards for schools. This award-winning series has been published each
fall for the past several years in Our Town and West Side Spirit
newspapers.
This year, for the first time, website visitors can also nominate
their favorite principal for a Blackboard Award. Leaders from public,
private, religious and charter schools in New York City are eligible
for the honor. Nominators are encouraged to be as detailed as possible
in explaining why a particular school leader is worthy of recognition.
Later this fall, Manhattan Media will select a handful of principals
from a range of grade levels to be honored with Blackboard Awards.
Manhattan Media publishes Our Town and West Side Spirit community
newspapers, as well as New York Family and New York Family Brooklyn
magazines. For more information, visit www.BlackboardAwards.com.
